In this full day workshop you will birth your own Shamanic Drum in a day of ceremony, honouring the spirits of the animal and the tree.

ABOUT THE JOURNEY

Next Workshop is taking place on 29th March 2025 at the Mother of the Woods Retreat on a 300 year Old Farmhouse, formerly a Georgian Hall, lined with ancient trees, nestled in 2.5 acres of wild meadows in the rolling hills of Co Down. 

Travel time:  10 minutes from Lisburn, Carryduff, Saintfield, Ballynahinch and Hillborough. 20/25 minutes from Belfast (40 minutes from intl airport). 8 minutes from the M1 motorway at Lisburn, 1hour 30 from Dublin. Exact address will be send upon booking.

One-day experience from 9:30am - 5pm

A deep inner journey with space for a maximum of 9 Participants

You are going to birth your own unique Shamanic Frame Drum & Beater

Eileen from Moreish Good Food will provide delicious snacks, lunch, and dessert throughout the day. At 10am, a light snack will be served to start things off. For lunch, enjoy a flavourful chicken tagine with apricots, paired with cumin-braised chickpeas and roasted sweet potatoes, mushrooms, and tomatoes. Cake will be served after lunch. The menu may vary based on dietary requirements.

Fee for the day is £333.

£100 non-refundable deposit secures your booking, with the remaining balance due 2 weeks before the workshop.

*Please note that cancellations made within two weeks of the event are non-refundable. However, you are welcome to transfer your space to someone else.

Meet your workshop Facilitators

Claudia Keller

I am a special needs care professional, shamanic frame drum builder, and drumming workshop facilitator based in Northern Ireland. Originally from Germany, I bring a unique cultural perspective to my work, blending compassion, creativity, and spirituality to support individuals and build community.

Through my frame drum building and drumming workshops, I create safe, welcoming spaces for people to connect with themselves and each other. These sessions are rooted in ancient traditions and offer participants a path to healing, rhythm, and self-expression.

In my personal life, I am blessed to live alongside my daughter and two grandsons, whose joy and energy inspire me daily. Together, we are rooted in the beautiful landscape of Northern Ireland, which continuously enriches my life and work.

Ria Keller 

As a BodyMind Maturation Coach, Childhood Development Specialist, Chef, and Postpartum Doula, I create spaces for deep healing and growth. I am guiding and supporting you through life’s transitions—whether it's through trauma healing, childhood patterns, conscious conception, pregnancy, or the sacred postpartum period.

I am passionate about helping you reconnect with your true self, so you can heal at the root of emotional and behavioral patterns that no longer serve you. Together, we will dive deep into your life experiences, providing you with the support and safe space needed to release struggles, embrace your wildness, and thrive.

Originally from Germany, I now live in Northern Ireland with my partner and our two beautiful boys. My personal journey as a mother and healer deeply informs my work, and I am committed to supporting others on their own unique paths.

Structure of the day:

BEGINNING

9:30am: We will open the space by calling on the support and the holding of the Chinese five Elements - Water, Tree, Fire, Earth & Metal.

From here we are going to set intentions and offer a ritual for the process.

DRUM BIRTHING

Our next step is to choose your frame. We will then take you on a journey to connect with the wood, followed by oiling the frames. You can choose an essential oil scent that feels right for you. From here we will move onto connecting with, choosing and blessing the hides. We will then cut out the head for the drum, punch out the holes, prepare our lacing.

12:30pm: Lunch 

1:30pm: We will now put all 3 parts together to make your sacred drum. We will finish the building process off by making your own beater.

CLOSING

4:30pm: Ria is going to guide us through a powerful drum Meditation in which you will begin to listen more deeply to connect with your drum and to ground the experience in.

A few words from Claudia about the materials:

  • The frames are oiled with Saint John’s Wort. The Flowers Are Picked on solstice day Which has a healing and protective effect. The oil stores the power of the sun, brings light in dark days and promotes knowledge, and deeper wisdom on shamanic journeys.

  • All the hides are from local animals, the goats and cows are from Broughgammon farm in Ballycastle. the deer and red stag Are from Omagh and the sheep is from Newry.

  • Before I work with the skin I connect myself with the universe and ask for Permission For the dehairing process. My Work humbles me and my aim is to bring this love back into the hides.

  • The Hides are not chemical treated. I only work with hard wood ash. I truly believe that this sacred process is honouring the animals life and the spirit of the animal is coming back to life in these powerful Drums.
